And May and June went flying by....

My incredible grandparents with the great grandkids (11 of them!!)The whole family (minus one incredibly missed and loved woman)Yeah, it's June 24th and I haven't posted in nearly 2 months. Eric has laughed at the "framing" pictures several times since the house is now completely done on the outside and the inside is moving right along as well. The cabinets, flooring, tile, trim, etc are all done and I think the painting started today. Our builder told us today that we can expect a July 29th closing date! It's been amazing to watch the progress each time we are there.

We celebrated my Granddaddy's 90th birthday in early May. Our entire family gathered in Des Moines to celebrate this wonderful man. It was bittersweet though to celebrate him while Auntie Les was gone. It was a great family weekend, but different and didn't feel complete. I kept expecting her to walk in the door. We shared many memories and stories and enjoyed our time together. It's always too short. My mama, sister, and meWill had his last day of 2nd grade on June 3rd. He had a great year and we are very proud of his grades. He's excited about his teacher for next year also. He's in summer school/day camp now and is enjoying that. Next week is Drake Basketball camp in DM with his cousins (and best friends!) Max & Charlie! We're looking forward to spoiling Morgan since she'll be an only child for a few days next week.

It seems like the rest of the time is take up with football & baseball for Will and swimming lessons for Morgan. Will had a ton of fun playing flag football again this year and has had the new experience of playing club baseball. It's a fairly competitive environment (kid pitch) and has really been a learning experience. It's a bigger commitment than we were expecting but I think Will has enjoyed it. They are at State this weekend and have one more tournament in mid-July.

Morgan was a superstar at her first "without parent" swim lessons. She's growing more brave each time she gets in the water and we are SO proud of her. We hope to do more lessons this fall to increase her comfort and skill in the water.

As usual, Eric and I have been busy at work. I recently talked to my boss about other opportunities that might be available as soon as this fiscal year (Sept 30) is over. She was very receptive so hopefully I can move onto a new challenge in the same organization soon. It's been a stressful June - but it usually is, so at least it's not a surprise. I'm grateful for my endlessly supportive husband who picks up my slack...what a blessing he is!! He's been busy as well with a new project that he's enjoying - and getting his hands on hardware and testing so he loves that!

That's it for now...pictures later!

Easter

We had a fun weekend in Des Moines over Easter spending time with my family. Mom had an Easter party and egg hunt for the kids and we all enjoyed an uplifting worship service, yummy food and a quick birthday party for Miss M on Sunday.

My handsome hubby :)

Cheese, everyone....

There were lots of quarters to be had:

Twins vs. Cubs....

Nana and her 'oldest' grandson...(never mind that he's the oldest by *1* week, he'll remind you that he's the OLDEST!)

More egg hunting fun

Crazy Weather and Cute Pics

We had the craziest hail storm on Good Friday. The kids were facinated and have some stored away in the fridge!
I also wanted to post some pictures of Morgan's family night at school. She loved showing us what she does on a daily basis as well as her classroom!

It's March!

I've been horrible about taking pictures lately! Maybe because I don't want to take pictures of coughing, feverish kiddos, and snotty noses? :) Morgan had strep throat and is on the mend. We've all fought something in the last few weeks. I can't wait to be able to open windows and and have fresh air! We've had some stressful days and nights lately, with a few minor (right honey?) hiccups in the sale of our house. Long story short, closing is now March 25 instead of March 18. A week in the grand scheme of things isn't much...we're just going to be glad to be done! We're narrowing down our options on our next house - and we're planning to build. The process is a little daunting but exciting as well. Look for progress pictures once we sign a contract and start the process! It's funny how many people I have talked to that had the February blahs. For a short month, it sure causes all of us lots of UGHs! I'm glad that we're moving towards spring...sunshine, riding bikes in the evenings, grilling, fresh air. Love it!

Friday 2/11

It might hit 40 this weekend! That IS the highlight of this blog post :). We've been running right along, busy with work, school, scouts, church, bible study, baseball and more. It seems like life is kind of crazy but the 'normal' kind of crazy if that makes any sense. Will and I have both caught the bug that's going around. For Will it was 3 days out of school with a high temp and for mom it's been losing my voice - a treat to those around me for sure. :) Will recovered just in time for his Cub Scout meeting and Valentine's party at school...lucky boy! We're thrilled that we've sold our house! Everything is going smoothly towards closing so far. We're planning to continue to live in Eric's parents' home for a few more months, while we take our time finding the perfect home for our family. We're so grateful for them allowing us to live there and the gift of time so we don't have to make rush decisions. We've looked at several homes and are exploring building, but haven't made any firm decisions yet. We have friends who are dealing with sadness and grief and our hearts are so heavy for them. One friend lost her mother very suddenly with no hint of trouble until she was gone. Other friends are dealing with a parent's serious illness. I'm so grateful that God is our strength. I'm grateful we can pray and receive comfort and peace. More pictures to come...this weekend, we have baseball practice, pinewood derby cars to finish, packing to start, storage units to re-organize and more!

Christmas Day - 12/25

Merry Christmas! This is how they waited for us to give the OK to come upstairs....think they were excited? Will got a bow & arrow from Santa and Morgan got a Doctor's kit. Arrows have flown at all of us and we've all received "brain shots" from Dr. Morgan. I believe she also diagnosed Grandpa with a cavity, ear infection, and in need of ear tubes. :)Playdough, doll furniture and a doll house were the highlights for Miss M.Will got Beatles Rock Band, so we've all been practicing. If you hear me humming "Yellow Submarine" or "8 days a week", you now know why.
